About the Artist
Lisa began her journey as an artist in the world of three dimensions - first ceramics, then textiles and finally blown glass. Yet, when she became a parent of young children, she had to pivot to two dimensions, as time was of the essence. She needed to go back to art making in small windows of time - often at her dining room table. It was there that she began to appreciate the effectiveness of using layering techniques to convey the complexity of human memory, relationship and feeling.
She hopes that the narratives, humour and memories found in her pieces, create a visual dialogue that resonates with viewers.
About the Process
In her art practice, Lisa seeks to incorporate so many things that enchant her: from urban fragments, to striking moments in nature, to the wonderful elements of day-to-day life. These are then blended together with layers of paper and fabric using photography, collage and stitch where she seeks to express the relational complexity of what she experiences.
